About the Opportunity

Position Summary

Join a dynamic and expanding development department in one of Canada’s most high-profile and innovative musical ensembles.

We are seeking an experienced, collaborative, and energetic individual to provide strategy and management to Tafelmusik’s growing annual fund development program. Reporting to the Development Director, the ideal candidate will have a proven track-record in related roles and experience in annual giving, donor stewardship and events management. The successful candidate will be a creative, quick learner and accountable.  As comfortable analyzing data as they are inspiring and interacting with donors.

Key Responsibilities

The position serves as an integral part of a small Development Team. The incumbent works in partnership with the Director of Development in the oversight, planning and implementation of an annual giving strategy with the overarching goal to increase revenue and donor loyalty.

  • Manage and grow the annual individual and foundation donor giving program to achieve revenue targets.
  • Develop and manage regular donor renewal and acquisition online campaigns, aligning Tafelmusik programming to donors’ interests. 
  • Develop strategies to engage younger donors.
  • Support the Executive Director and Development Director with major gift individual, foundation and corporate sponsor prospect research, communications, donor record management and cultivation activities.
  • Maintain and keep up to date the donor management system (Tessitura) including accurate data entry, tracking, monitoring, tax receipting and reporting on donor engagement and activities.
  • Manage and implement donor acknowledgement, stewardship, and recognition in line with established donor recognition policies and procedures.
  • Support the development of proposals, case statements, sponsorship packages, newsletters, funder impact reports and other communications materials as needed.
  • Manage and support all donor events (donor lounge and others) and all fundraising events.
  • Supervise and coach the Development Coordinator.
  • Work collaboratively with other members of the organization, including but not exclusive to operations, marketing, musicians, and board volunteers to support fundraising strategies.
  • Maintain flexibility to shift focus as required with changing priorities and support team members to achieve objectives.
  • Develop reports to support analysis and optimization of annual campaigns and track donor giving.
  • Make budget projections for the donors in your portfolio with a high degree of accuracy, prepare revised year-end estimates as needed.
  • Project manage deadlines, tasks, and accountabilities for Development projects. 
  • Concert and event duty as required, includes evening and weekend work.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Education and Training

  • Undergraduate degree/diploma, CFRE optional

Experience

  • 3+ years’ experience in the non-profit sector with a proven track record in fundraising.
  • Experience with donor strategy development, implementation, and evaluation.
  • Experience with fundraising software and donor database management.
  • Knowledge of fundraising concepts, methodologies, and tools.
  • Track record of success at grant, proposal and report research and writing for foundations are an asset.
  • A proven track record of identifying, cultivating, and stewarding donor relationships. 
  • Excellent project management, including planning and critical evaluation of an initiative and designing metrics to monitor performance.
  • Ability to work flexible hours as required, including evenings and weekends, for events and meetings.
  • Knowledge of classical music & the performing arts scene in the GTA.
