Keith Lam

“A suave, fine-grained baritone” (Boston Globe), Keith Lam (he/him) has forged a dynamic, multifaceted performance career spanning opera, theatre, film, contemporary music, and concert work.

Most recently, he returned to Europe to perform in Claude Vivier’s Love Songs with Soundstreams at the New Music Dublin Festival.  Last season, he also performed in the new play In My Day by Rick Waines at Buddies in Bad Times Theatre, and made his Canadian Opera Company role debut as the Official Registrar in Puccini’s Madama Butterfly.

His work in contemporary and interdisciplinary performance includes a featured appearance in The Piece Atop his Pate, a new animated short created in collaboration with the Canadian Art Song Project and OCAD.  He also appeared and toured with Jeremy Dutcher’s sophomore album Motewolonuwok which received the prestigious Polaris Music Prize 2024.

On screen, Keith appeared in the film adaption of the a cappella opera Sweat, reprising his role as the Boss.  The film premiered at the Kingston Canadian Film Festival in 2023 and received Opera America’s 2024 Award for Digital Excellence in Opera.

He has worked with other companies such as Tafelmusik, Tapestry Opera, Against the Grain Theatre, Opera Five, Bicycle Opera Project and Jeunesse Musicales. He is an alumnus of the Aspen Opera Theater, Banff Centre’s Opera as Theatre program, Opera NUOVA, Highlands Opera Studio, and the Tafelmusik Baroque Institute. Keith has been a member of the Canadian Opera Company Chorus since 2012.
