An introduction to Mozart Together by program curator, Music Director Elisa Citterio
The transition from isolation to gathering in a concert hall inspired me to inaugurate the season with an intimate yet intriguing program, inspired by the musical melting pot that was Vienna around 1800. Among the composers we couldn’t be without are Mozart, including a unique 18th-century transcription for string sextet of a celebrated concerto, and Beethoven, whom we remember on the 250th anniversary of his birth. To these we add a selection of music by less familiar composers: music that puts our musicians to the test in a dialogue that is close, delicate, and intimate. Different ensemble groupings follow each other, alternating moments of reflection, amusement, passion, and joy. We explore a new side of Tafelmusik, in search of performance nuances that highlight the feelings we’ve experienced in these past few months.
Buon ascolto — happy listening!
