Tafelmusik is entering an exciting phase of renewal and growth. As the organization prepares for its milestone 50th anniversary in 2028/29, it is investing in initiatives that will develop and grow long-term audiences for its mainstage concert season in Toronto, and advance its profile internationally.
Position Summary
The Digital Marketing & Audience Development Manager is a key member of Tafelmusik’s marketing team at a pivotal moment in the organization’s history. As Tafelmusik builds toward its 50th anniversary season in 2028/29, this role will be central to growing and diversifying the audiences who experience the orchestra’s work in Toronto and beyond.
Reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications, the Digital Marketing & Audience Development Manager owns the strategy and execution of paid digital advertising, email marketing, audience segmentation, CRM data integrity, website oversight, and SEO. Working in close collaboration with the rest of the marketing team, this role provides the analytical backbone that connects patron data to creative output across all channels—from digital campaigns to print and direct mail.
The ideal candidate brings strong digital marketing expertise, a data-driven mindset, and a genuine enthusiasm for the performing arts.
Key Responsibilities
Digital Marketing & Campaigns
- Develop, implement, and evaluate multi-channel digital marketing campaigns in collaboration with the Director and external vendors.
- Plan and manage paid digital advertising across Google, Meta, and other relevant platforms; monitor performance and optimize in real time.
- Own SEO strategy and implementation, ensuring Tafelmusik’s web presence supports discoverability and audience growth.
- Propose and implement digital promotions, including pricing rules, promo codes, and campaign-specific offers in collaboration with box office.
- Track, analyze, and report on digital advertising and website metrics; translate data into actionable recommendations for the team.
Audience Development & Segmentation
- Lead audience segmentation strategy using Tessitura and geodemographic tools, ensuring both digital and print campaigns reach the right audiences.
- Identify and track key performance indicators for audience growth, retention, and engagement; present findings to the Director on a regular cadence.
- Build targeted audience lists and execute data-driven campaigns to support patron lifecycle journeys, including subscription renewal, single ticket, and new patron acquisition.
- Research and monitor trends in performing arts audience development and digital marketing to keep Tafelmusik’s approach current and competitive.
CRM & Tessitura
- Serve as the department’s primary Tessitura resource: manage web and ticket sales via Tessitura and TNEW in collaboration with box office.
- Maintain CRM data integrity, including list hygiene, segmentation logic, and compliance with CASL requirements.
- Support the team with reporting, analytics, and troubleshooting within Tessitura.
- Act as CASL representative for all email communications.
Website
- Strategic oversight of Tafelmusik’s website with consultation from Artistic Co-Directors, including performance monitoring, SEO, and coordination of development work with the external web developer.
- Manage web security and updates in collaboration with the website contractor.
- Track and report on website metrics; recommend improvements based on analytics and user behaviour.
Budget Management
- Maintain digital marketing expense budgets; process invoices and participate in quarterly estimates and year-end reconciliation.
Concerts & Events
- The successful candidate will be expected to work occasional evenings and weekends, including attendance at concerts and special events.
Essential Qualifications
- Minimum three years of experience in digital marketing, preferably within a performing arts, cultural, or not-for-profit organization
- Demonstrated expertise in paid digital advertising (Google Ads, Meta Ads), SEO, and multi-channel campaign management
- Strong analytical skills with experience tracking KPIs, interpreting data, and making evidence-based recommendations
- Experience with CRM or relational database systems. Familiarity with Tessitura is strongly preferred.
- Proficiency in email marketing platforms (e.g., WordFly, MailChimp) and working knowledge of CASL compliance requirements
- Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects on schedule and under tight timelines; experience with Asana or similar project management tools an asset
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills; comfortable briefing colleagues, vendors, and senior leadership
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, Google Analytics, and WordPress
- Pro-active, collaborative, and solutions-oriented professional manner
Desirable Qualifications
- Knowledge of and enthusiasm for classical music and the performing arts scene in the GTA
- Experience with Adobe Creative Suite or Canva
- Familiarity with geodemographic segmentation tools (e.g., Environics Analytics / PRIZM)
Terms of Employment
This is a full-time position reporting to the Director of Marketing & Communications with regular in-person presence at Tafelmusik’s Toronto office required. Hybrid options may be discussed. Occasional evening and weekend work is expected in connection with concerts and events.

Compensation & Benefits
Salary range: $60,000–$65,000, commensurate with experience
