Born in Québec City, Olivier Fortin is a graduate with distinction from the Conservatoire de musique de Québec and the recipient of several scholarships for excellence, which enabled him to pursue his training in Paris with Pierre Hantaï and in Amsterdam with Bob van Asperen. A prizewinner at the Montreal Bach Competition and the Bruges Competition, he is much in demand as a soloist and chamber musician. He has performed throughout Europe, in Japan, China, South Korea, Australia, the United States and Canada with the the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, Ensemble Masques and Capriccio Stravagante. He has recorded over thirty CDs with these ensembles and as a soloist. Olivier Fortin moved to France in 2009 where he continues his musical career. He is professor of basso continuo and chamber music at the École Supérieure de Musique de Bourgogne-Franche-Comté (Dijon, France).
