A Message from the Gala Co-Chairs
Dear Friends,
On May 4, 2009, over 350 arts patrons celebrated Tafelmusik at an astronomy-themed fundraising event at the Liberty Grand Entertainment Complex. Thanks to their generosity, $100,000 was raised towards Tafelmusik’s music education and concert programmes. We would like to thank everyone for their support of Tafelmusik.
The highlight of the evening was a performance by the Tafelmusik Baroque Orchestra, featuring excerpts from its acclaimed concert programme The Galileo Project: Music of the Spheres. The musicians performed the repertoire by memory and even serenaded some of the Gala guests at their tables!
Galileo himself must have been smiling down upon the crowd, as guests went out to the courtyard to stargaze through telescopes provided by volunteers from The Royal Astronomical Society of Canada – Toronto. The stargazers were treated to fantastic views of the Earth’s moon, as well as the planet Saturn and one of its moons.

We would like to thank the companies and individuals that purchased tables and tickets for the event. We would also like to acknowledge the musicians, who donated their performance for the event, and the dozens of volunteers who helped throughout the evening.
