A native of California, Dominic Teresi is principal bassoon of Tafelmusik, Boston Early Music Festival Orchestra and Carmel Bach, and a member of the chamber groups Quicksilver, Chiaroscuro and Juilliard Baroque. He has worked with Le Concert d’Astree, Philharmonia Baroque, Arion and Apollo’s Fire, among others. In demand on dulcian, baroque, classical and modern bassoons, Dominic’s playing has been described as "lively and graceful" (New York Times) and "dazzling” (Toronto Star), "reminding us of the expressive powers of the bassoon" (The Globe and Mail). Mr. Teresi serves on the faculty of The Juilliard School and the University of Toronto, and also teaches at Tafelmusik’s Baroque Summer Institute; he has given masterclasses at Oberlin, University of Wisconsin-Madison, and Puerto Rico Conservatory. He was recently invited to be a featured artist on CBC Radio’s “Music Around Us,” performing a radio concert of bassoon solos, concertos and chamber works. Dominic has recorded numerous CDs and is a featured soloist on Tafelmusik’s Concerti Virtuosi, nominated for a 2006 JUNO award. Other recent CD releases include Sweet Desire, a 17th-century collection with Chatham Baroque. Dominic holds an MM and AD in modern bassoon from Yale University, a Médaille d'or from the Conservatoire National de Region in Bordeaux, France and a DM-ABD from Indiana University-Bloomington. He makes his home in Toronto with his wife, Sharon D’Cunha, and their two young children, David and Mira.
